Spring training is in the air. How about a baseball party?
When our son was only months old he had a toy baseball bat in his hands. We love baseball in our family, so for his first birthday it was only natural that he had a baseball themed party. It was a great time, and even though it was thrown for a one year old, these ideas could be used for baseball fans of all ages.
It was a lot of fun coming up with the menu that, of course, was filled with ballpark favorites. Our team is the Red Sox, so we selected food that reminds us of Fenway Park and our time together in Boston. I realize that in CT we have a pretty even split of Red Sox fans and Yankee fans. My father is a life long Yankee fan so I have much love for the Bronx Bombers. I’m sure you could have a lot of fun coming up with a Yankee inspired menu as well!
- New England Clam Chowder
- Fenway Franks (Nitrate Free)
- “Sausage Guy” Italian Sausage and Peppers
- “Green Monster” Salad with “Big Papi” Seed Dressing
- Rally Rods (Pretzel rods with a spicy mustard dip)
- Bags of Peanuts
- Bags of Sunflower Seeds
- Build-Your-Own Nachos Bar
- Vintage Cracker Jack Boxes
- Popcorn Machine
- Assorted Candy – Big League Chew, Baby Ruth Bars, etc…
What was so great about the food selection was that most of it, except what was cooked on the grill, was made in advance. This gave us the ability to relax a bit and spend time with our friends and family. Most importantly, we were able to enjoy watching our son experience his birthday and take his first bite of chocolate cake.
